This week on our culinary adventure we head to France for a scrumptious almond cake recipe. We all know that nobody does cakes like the French and this one is truly delicious. Both kids and adults alike will have fun making and eating this one! Don’t forget to add a dash of cream and some berries to top it off!
France
France is one of the larger countries in Europe and is surrounded by Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland,
Italy, Monaco, Andorra, and Spain. It also faces the Atlantic Ocean on its west side. In addition to the mainland, the little island of Corsica (just off the coast of Italy) belongs to France too. The proximity to all of these different countries and culinary influences makes French food incredibly diverse.
Gateaux Aux Amandes (Almond Cake)
The sweet almond filling of this cake is called Frangipane. This recipe has been shared by Bébé Voyage’s very own analytics specialist Carole Bonzon-Vachette.
Ingredients
- 100g of melted butter
- 200g sugar
- 200g ground almonds
- 4 eggs
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200C.
- Layer a baking pan with oven-proof paper.
- Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix all the ingredients together.
- Pour into the pan and bake for 25 minutes.
- The baking of this cake might vary. To check if the cake is cooked, stick a knife in it and if it comes out without any dough sticking on it then it’s ready.
Little Fingers Can
Kids of all ages can get involved in helping to make the almond cake under adult supervision. Pay extra attention and give extra help when putting the cake in the hot oven or when taking it out.
