Stay in a treehouse in Domaine Des Ormes

When most people think of camping, they have images of pitching a tent and roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Which of course, is always great fun, but who says camping has to be in a tent? Why not go camping in style at the Domaine Des Ormes treehouse accommodations in Brittany, France? Designed for the adventurous family in mind, these treehouses give you the experience of sleeping outdoors, but up to 20 feet in the air! Waking up to the sounds of nature and walking out on your balcony to be amongst the treetops is a unique experience that will be ingrained in your children’s memory for years to come.

The Domaine Des Ormes has 3 different categories of treehouses, however not all are appropriate for families with young children. If you have little ones in tow, be sure to check out the family treehouse options, all built into the trees and with adorable features that bring the outdoors to you! The family treehouses are appropriate for children aged 2 and up and have protective netting and stairs instead of ladders, in order to keep your little ones safe. So you can sit back, relax, and truly feel at one with nature.

The Estate

Located in Brittany, France this is no ordinary camping site. Domaine Des Ormes is literally the summer holiday of your dreams with activities for the entire family to enjoy. The site has everything from indoor swimming pools, water slides, fishing, playgrounds, mini golf, ziplining, adventure course, climbing wall, tennis, horseback riding…literally we could go on for ages, but we think you get the point! This 200 hectare estate will entertain your family from sunrise to sunset and then will satiate your hunger with the multiple bars and restaurants on site that make use of local products.

Going beyond just saying they are environmentally friendly, they have also made the environment part of their core values and ensure their estate is green by doing everything from ionizing the swimming pools, to utilizing plant filtration, and using electric vehicles and tools.

The Area

If you need a break from all the action at Domaine Des Ormes, then jump in your car and head out to the surrounding countryside. Situated near the coast, the estate sits at an ideal location as a jumping off point to surrounding towns. Visit the famous tidal island, Mont St Michel, where the largest tides in all of Europe rise 50 feet to entirely shut the island off from the mainland. But, plan your visit accordingly! You don’t want to get stuck out there!

Dinan is a medieval city that will capture your hearts just 30 minutes drive from the estate. Walk the cobblestone streets and grab a glass of wine before browsing the artisan shops. The kids will enjoy the climb up the clock tower and the views of the town from above.

If you are looking for a shorter drive from Des Ormes than look no further than Dol de Bretagne, another charming town in the NW region of France. If you happen to go during June-December, be sure to check out the Saturday morning street market and grab a crepe or the Breton dessert Kouign-amann. It is a multi-layer bread cake made with sugar and butter and baked until caramelized. Don’t blame us though when you find yourself going back for more!

The Nitty Gritty

stay in a treehouse in Brittany, France

The treehouse accommodations run from 195 Euros a night and there are 11 different styles to choose from within the family section. If you have older children, there are also more adventurous style treehouses that cost 95 Euros a night. While these treehouses do have more luxuries than camping in a tent…you are still up in a tree! So, there is only a dry-pit toilet with only a few having electricity. The others are lit by candle light…but honestly, can it get anymore romantic!?

If staying in a treehouse is just not your style, but you are keen on visiting this amazing accommodation, than be sure to check out their website because they also have a main hotel, apartments and studios, camping huts, wooden barrels, gites, and individual homes that you can book your stay at.
