If I have to be honest, I have never been the biggest fan of camping, unless a festival was involved. However, since little A has come along, we have dipped our feet into the camping pool more and more often. Finding the right gear, for A, especially, has been a long process and a lot of trial and error. So to make things a little easier for your next camping trip, I have rounded up my five favourite camping essentials.
Avenli, single flocked child’s air bed
I am always of the opinion that if I have to sleep outside and on the ground, I must have a decent air bed and the same goes for my kiddo. The Avenli air bed has been perfect for our weekend camping trips and has doubled up as a second bed for sleepovers at home too, so that is already a win-win. It’s easy to inflate and store and it also comes with a repair patch in case of accidents whilst away. As it’s the same size as a child’s bed we expect A to grow with it and make use of it for years to come.
Trekology Yizi Go
When it comes to camping essentials, we all know chairs are a must! This portable, lightweight, cool chair folds up so small, you can carry it in a backpack! The chair consists of two parts: the chair frame and the seat fabric but it is so easy to assemble that no tools are required. It also has side pockets for extra storage for all the small items your little ones are bound to take on the trip. With the fabric being detachable and washing machine washable, it makes it the perfect camping companion.
Black Diamond Headlamp A favourite thing when we go camping is being in charge of the lights! So, to make things fun for her we found a headlamp just for her. The Black Diamond Wiz is great and designed with kids in mind. It can be used even when put on upside down and it shuts down after two hours to prevent overuse and battery drain. The best feature it’s the child-safe closure and the breakaway elastic safety strap. The headlamp is even water-resistant against accidental spills.
Deuter
Finding the best backpack for A has taken us a long time, there was always something not quite right. Then we discovered Deuter Pico and fell in love. It’s perfect for kids ages two and above. The backpack is solidly built, practical, lightweight, and comfortable with an adjustable sternum strap and toddler-friendly stretch mesh side pockets. Plus it comes in a variety of fun and colorful designs.
Motorola
There is nothing more fun when camping than having adventures and what could be better than walkie-talkies to make the weekend that little bit more fun. Plus, they can prove to be quite essential if you end up in an area with no cell phone coverage. The Motorola Talkabout 62 is ideal and easy to power up on the go with its USB charging.
