This week, Bébé Voyage is exploring Lisbon with our Ambassador Jen Mills to discover the city’s must-do’s from a local.
Best Breakfast Spot In Lisbon
Any pastelaria (bakery) and order pastel de nata, a delicious egg cream pastry, and an espresso for a sweet treat to start your day! These are a must-have in Portugal, and almost every cafe or bakery will have them. Hop around and have fun deciding which you think is the best in town!
Many say the best in Lisbon is at Pastéis de Belém; it’s also the original!
Morning Filled With History
Take the kids to Sao Jorge Castle and pretend to be kings and queens! This is our favorite place to explore as a family and it has something for everyone. It’s easy to get lost in your imagination envisioning how it would have looked in the days of Portuguese royalty. The view up here is incredible… And there are peacocks -what’s not to love!
Lunch At A Tavern
Grab lunch at one of the many tascas (taverns) around the Alfama. Have fun getting “lost” along the windy cobblestone streets. Just keep heading downhill to easily get “unlost” and wind up by the river.
A great option for good food with a view is Chapitô à Mesa. Bonus: they are also a circus school and if you’re lucky, you can watch the trapeze artists practicing!
An Afternoon To Remember
Take the 28 tram to the Jardim da Estrela, the perfect park for families. The garden is a lush escape from the city and there is a great playground as well as 2 cafes to break for snacks. Bring a blanket and lay in the grass to relax, read a book, or kick around a football.
Wind Down
A walk along the river to enjoy the sunset. Lots of people gather to have a picnic dinner, a glass of wine, or ice cream. There is a beautiful view of the bridge and a great overall mood after a fun-filled day. There are also many bike rentals available along the river’s bike path.
Get Off The Beaten Path In Lisbon
Take a street art tour with The City Guru! It’s a super fun way to see the city and learn about the history of the incredible street art that you’ll see all around Lisbon.
